This sculpture portrays a weathered cowboy who, after years of trapping fur and guiding wagon trains, now watches over the cattle of a local rancher. Lemon has captured this weathered soul in authentic style as the man is outfitted with tapaderos on his stirrups and a quirt, or riding whip in hand. The gun he carries is a large caliber black-powder and ball weapon. Thus, you won't find any loops on his belt because he carries his powder in a brass bottle or small flattened cow-horn fitted with a brass spout.
