My husband and I bought a sculpture about 5 years ago at an antique store in Allen, MI. It didn't really strike us as an antique (though, I admit I wouldn't know if it were) but we very much enjoyed it and so we bought it.

At the base/foot of the sculpture there is an etching or carving of "Austin Prod. Inc. 24." There is a type written card taped to the bottom of the base giving information about a Kathy Klein, 1938. What is there is a follows, though, I do not know if she has anything to do with our sculpture or not.

"Kathy Klein 1938

Talented young sculptress who left Hungary in 1954 to broaden her vistas. Recipient of numerous scholarships and grants. Graduate of the Art Institute of Budapest where she earned top honors in numerous exhibitions.

Acclaimed for ability to translate the realism of her emotional impact into stylized and representive treatments of man's daily exisitence.

Her work flows with an eerie rhythm while projecting strentgh and solidity. After traveling the continent for many years, she now resides in Virginia. Her output is consistantly of high caliber and included in many private collections and public galleries."

I looked through the couples sculptures on this site and found only one that is similar; ID# AP1455. But it's not exact...not really even close. I tried looking up Kathy Klein and come up empty handed. Please help!!

Can anyone could point me in the right direction to find out the factual information/history of this piece? I am not looking to sell it, I would just like to be able to tell people something about it when asked. Right now I have no idea. We didn't buy it as an investment nor an antique, we bought it because we like(d) it--so we never looked into it until lately.

I have added a few pictures of the sculpture (http://www.allsculptures.com) in case someone might recognize it. I have more pics if anyone wants to see more. Also, it is very heavy but I do not believe it is bronze.

Thanks so much!! (Yes, I posted this in the general discussion and was directed to this forum...I think. :-)
