I need help identifying and pricing a sculpture by Rousseau. The detail are:

-Stamped with Paris casting stamp
-engraved with "fabrication francaise" and "made in france".
-engraved with "Rousseau"

The scupture/casting is metal, probably brass or bronze although it looks flat brown with some greenish tinge in the texture. The figure is of a boy carrying a bag of seed on one arm and a handfull of seed in the other hand. The boy appears to be walking on freshly worked soil as the furrows are well defined. At the boys feet is a triangle harrow. There is an addition to the statue that I am not sure belongs as it has modern screws holding it on. The addition is grape vines with bunches of grapes hanging overhead. The three grape vines have single bulb lights at the end of each vine and a switch at the base which also looks like it isn't orginal.

If anyone could give me any info on this piece I would appreciate it. From the history I can get from the family that gave it to me it apparently was brought to our area from New Orleans probably aboard a river boat. As best we can guess it entered our family about 50 to 75 years ago.

Thanks for your help!
Lawrence

M. Victor Rousseau (1865-1954) lots of reproductions of his work are still being made today. You can either pay to have it authenticated and appraised or try to compare the casting and marks to known originals. You can post pictures of the piece and foundry marks here for opinions-Regards, Sam
