The American Eagles book ends are sculptures by Robert K. Davis. They are crafted in fine pewter and finished by hand. The sculptures were issued in limited edition by The Franklin Gallery. They weigh approximately 22 pounds. Heavy little devils and are about 12" high at the tallest point.
I can't find anything on the internet about the original Franklin Gallery which is different from the J. Franklin Gallery. Also I came up blank on Robert K. Davis. I'm a novice at this, so I'm learning.
I purchased the book ends in April 1982. I have the certificate of authenticity from the Franklin Gallery signed by a Edwin V. Quagliana. I bought these for my husband, who has since passed on and I don't want them any more.
In 1982, I paid over $700.00 dollars for the set.
